North Brunswick High School
Description:North Brunswick Township High School is an award-winning facility located on a 48-acre tract in North Brunswick, New Jersey. The high school is a facility used twelve months a year, not only for education but for a myriad of community activities supporting senior citizens, young children and a variety of special-interest groups. The school building and the campus reflect the community's commitment to a quality education. A referendum passed in January 2002 will allow expansion and renovation to the building providing a new media center, a new performing arts center with classrooms for music and art, a full-court auxiliary gymnasium along with over a dozen new general use classes and six science rooms. The school’s population of nearly 1,700 students is economically and ethnically balanced, reflecting the growing trend toward diversity in our society. This cultural diversity has enhanced our students' high school experiences by exposing them to a variety of cultures and experiences. Recognized by the United States Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, North Brunswick Township High School continues to direct its resources toward fulfillment of its mission, “Educating students to become independent thinkers and problem- solvers empowered to achieve success in the emerging world community.” Palestine Lodge No. 111
Description:Palestine Lodge was organized at Andrew L. Dunham's store on Church Street in New Brunswick, NJ, by Robert C. Helm, Henry A. Hull, Robert G. Miller, William H. Fisher, Andrew L. Dunham, Joseph Campbell, John French, John Helm, Enos A. Sage, G.M. Burton and Henry S. Boyce, who were the charter members. Temple Lodge was the name first adopted by them. However, when they applied for a dispensation, the Most Worshipful Grand Master, William E. Pine, informed them that he had granted a dispensation for a lodge named Lodge of the Temple, and suggested that they change the name as it was so similar to that of the other lodge. Palestine Lodge was substituted and a dispensation granted.
The Charter of Palestine Lodge, No. 111, bears the date of January 19, 1871. It was instituted at the City Hall on Liberty Street in New Brunswick, NJ on February 16, 1871, William E. Pine, Grand Master. Robert C. Helm was the first Worshipful Master, E.A. Sage was Senior Warden, and William H. Fisher was the Junior Warden. Philo Lodge No. 243 F&AM![]()
Description:The name "Philo" was derived from Greek meaning "beloved" or "friendly". Philo Lodge No. 243 is located along Old Bridge Turnpike in historic South River N.J. It has been part of the history of South River since the early 1920's. Many of the early charter members of Philo Lodge were prominent citizens in the town. Bankers, Lawyers, Ministers as well as regular hard working citizens made up the ranks of the early lodge. They literally built Philo Lodge from the ground up with their dedication to the craft and the community. Today is no different. Our members are financial planners, plumbers, computer programmers and technicians, carpenters, auto workers, electricians, retirees and much more. Our membership is more scattered and diverse than back in the 1920's, however our members are just as dedicated to seeing Freemasonry succeed in South River, in New Jersey and in the United States as a whole. Our Lodge is growing and strong. We are moving forward while still holding firm to the Masonic principles of Freindship, Morality and Brotherly Love. We are a good bunch of guys having a good time while improving our country, our communities and most importantly, ourselves. Come on by and visit. It will be worth the trip !
